Young Creative Thursdays

for ages 7 and up

The perfect afternoon workshop for budding artists to explore the outdoors, get inspired by nature, and create something new each session from drawing to sculpture. This is an innovative space for kids to expand their imagination, experiment with a variety of materials, and create a unique masterpiece while learning new ways to express themselves.

Every session promises a new artistic challenge, fresh techniques, and a completed, unique artwork.

3:45pm-5pm. *Drop off begins at 3:30pm

July 16 Sketch Safari

With sketchbook in hand, each Young Creative will explore the outdoors to learn essential drawing techniques, shading secrets, and how to capture nature's patterns on paper.

July 30 Splash Lab

In this session that explores watercolor, your Young Creative will dive into fluid painting by experimenting with vibrant liquid pigments to capture and interpret the LongHouse garden landscapes and water scenes on paper.

 August 13  3D Adventures 

Young Creatives roll up their sleeves to combine unconventional materials into a standout sculpture inspired by the LongHouse Art in the Garden.

August 27 Masterpiece Makers

Every Young Creative will grab a brush and mix acrylic colors to transform a blank canvas into a vibrant, expressive painting inspired in the spirit and scenery of LongHouse.

 

You are welcome to bring your own and feel free to bring a drink and snack.

All materials provided.

Drop off begins at 3:30 pm (classes begin promptly as scheduled).

A parent or caregiver is encouraged to explore and enjoy the gardens during the session.

*LongHouse Reserve is a 16 acre reserve and sculpture garden located in East Hampton, NY, featuring pieces from Buckminster Fuller, Yoko Ono and Willem de Kooning to name a few.

*please wear bug spray and proper clothing. Bring water and a snack!
